Design and Construction Package for the New Ministry of Labour and Social Development Complex
HYKAL has been entrusted by “ELM,” the project manager, with the comprehensive design and construction fit-out package for the New Ministry of Labour and Social Development Complex. Situated at the intersection of Imam Saud Exit 9 Road with the Eastern Ring Road in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, this project marks a significant development in the region.
Background
The project site, formerly occupied by Noura University, has been reimagined and designated for the New Ministry Complex. HYKAL has been tasked with transforming the existing infrastructure into a state-of-the-art facility tailored to the requirements of the Ministry of Labour and Social Development (MOSA).
Scope of Work
HYKAL’s responsibilities encompass the preparation of all construction documents, covering architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and other essential construction design elements. This includes detailed plans for five major buildings within the complex, including the Minister Building, as well as site work necessary to facilitate the smooth operation of MOSA.
Challenges and Solutions
The transition from a university campus to a ministerial complex presented numerous challenges across various disciplines. HYKAL tackled these challenges head-on, orchestrating significant changes to both the interior layouts and exterior facades of the buildings. This involved a meticulous redesign of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems and the integration of advanced low-current systems to meet the complex’s operational needs effectively.
